On the right is the hull of a ship in course of construction, drawn directly from the front ; the sharp line of her bows cuts the transverse lines of the scaffolding. To the left and in the foreground a busy yard, full of workmen ; one stands to the left with arms akimbo, another wheels a barrow to the front. With much dry point work in the sky, especially horizontal lines extending nearly half-way across the plate from the left upper corner to a depth of 1 in. from the top of the plate. The shed on the extreme left, of which we see the interior in shadow, ends in a white strip 3/16 in. or 4 mm. in width.
