Letter from George Thompson, London, [England], to William Lloyd Garrison, 1864 Jan[uary] 9
Description:
George Thompson writes to William Lloyd Garrison after receiving the Liberator and National Anti-Slavery Standard which contained "the resolution passed in Philadelphia, in reference to myself." He thanks Garrison for proposing the resolution to honor him and for its unanimous adoption, saying it "richly recompenses" for his work "in the cause of freedom & humanity." He describes his lecture schedule in England before leaving to come to the United States on the 23rd of January. Thompson also offers to help the anti-slavery cause by lecturing in the U.S. and asks for Garrison's help in making arrangements for him to speak.
