Mary Gray Chapman writes to William Lloyd Garrison thanking him for his last letter, saying if she "could have chosen any thing it would have been just such a letter as you have written." She says she was "desirous" to learn if Garrison approved of his friend William M. Chace's fiancée, and was "glad of the testimony of another who had known him intimately for years." Chapman also sends Garrison her "best wishes for a happy meeting with those friends in England who are united with you in promoting the freedom of mankind ..."
