Letter from Parker Pillsbury, 21 Cornhill, Boston, [Massachusetts], to Samuel May, 1852 July 17th
Description:
In this letter to Samuel May, Parker Pillsbury discusses his upcoming travel plans. Pillsbury tells May he planned to hold a meeting in Marblehead but then received a letter from William Lloyd Garrison, "informing me of his illness and earnestly insisting on my taking his place tomorrow at the Old Colony [Anti-Slavery Society] meeting." Pillsbury accepted the offer and is writing to May "en route to Kingston" and the meeting. He then suggests that he should go to Marblehead after his stop in Lynn and before he goes to Ohio, also asking May if "my presence will be needed at Framingham." Pillsbury shares his thought that "Lexington would be a place perhaps that could be visited on Sunday August first and the friends there speak of a meeting." In the postscript, Pillsbury apologizes for confusing the date of the Framingham meeting, saying he is "a little confused today, from too early rising, and so much change of programme."
