Wins over Cecilie Aussem in Wimbledon Semi-Finals Miss Elizabeth Ryan, who was declared the winner over Cecilie Aussem, popular German tennis star, in the Wimbledon semi-finals, when the latter sprained her ankle in the 9th game of the third set. Fraulein Aussem fell in trying for one of Miss Ryan's low drives to the backhand corner, and could not rise again. Because of the injury - she was taken from the court on a stretcher she was forced to default. Miss Ryan had won the first set 6-3, Fraulein Aussem the second at 6-0, and the third set had gone to 4-all when the German star was injured. It was latter announced that the injury was not serious.
