Caption: 279689-S The U.S. Army's constabulary forces in Germany are organized to police the American zone of occupation. These forces make frequent raids on "black market" operators, suppress internal disturbances and perform general patrol duty. Organized shortly after the cessation of hostilities, the constabularies have done much to solve the problems of occupation. T/4 Johnnie Frank, Wheeling, W. Va., checks the brief case of a German civilian suspected of black market operations. Sgt. Frank and Pfc Andrew Popelas, Roscoe, Pa., (left), are members of the 16th Constabulary Squadron, patrolling the American Sector, Berlin.
