Women's Bread Line In New York City. Although there are many bread lines for men in New York City, similar ones for women had not been organized until recently. The photograph shows the Rev. John H. Evans of the New Hope Mission as he passed out food to women who have a family and can cook at home. On the right is Daniel Platt, chairman of the non-sectarian relief board of the east side. This mission is part of a chain of such institutions in Chicago and other cities conducted by the "Free Apostolic Church of Christ". Some of the women here have walked 30 blocks for the food.
