Oliver Johnson encloses Garrison's receipt for his subscription to the Christian Union. Johnson states that he is still in the process of easing himself into the duties of his new post, but assures Garrison of his expectation that it will please him greatly once mastered. Johnson proposes that Garrison write articles for the Christian Union, and notes that the compensation will be double the rate offered by the Independent.
