Letter from Charles Sumner, Washington, [D.C.], to William Lloyd Garrison, 29th Dec[ember] [18]70
Description:
Charles Sumner informs William Lloyd Garrison that the "same old heartlessness & violence which prevailed in Kansas" is rearing its head once more. Sumner proclaims that, upon reading his speech, Garrison wil find it to be "strictly to the point" and avoiding all "allusion to the present" save where absolutely required. Sumner states that he is being threatened with dismissal from his Committee in the Senate.
