Letter from Lewis Tappan, New York, to Amos Augustus Phelps, 14 Novr. 1835
Description:
In this letter to Amos A. Phelps, Lewis Tappan comments on a few subject matters Phelps addressed in his letter: regarding George Thompson, he (Tappan) doesn’t have much confidence in him; as for the mission to England, the Executive Committee is opposed to “Mr. & Mrs. C” going to England; the agency committee will act upon Phelps’s suggestions regarding the agency operations. He also mentions Mr. Avery and Mr. Kellogg, who are visiting New York, and Mr. Birney, who would not publish a paper in Cincinnati because he wants a strong statements made by an influential man.
