Mardi Gras Ball New Orleans' carnival balls during Mardi Gra are held in the Municipal auditorium and the bidding comes high for the night wanted. Usually the old established carnival organizations, or Krewes, who have been giving the affairs for years get top priority. Sixty carnival balls are scheduled to be held in the auditorium between now and Mardi Gras Day, which is Feb. 17. This scene shows one of the tableaus given by the Krewe at the Athenians Ball.
