Description:
Oliver Johnson relates to William Lloyd Garrison that he spoke with Gerrit Smith when he passed through New York City the previous week, and that he gave to him a copy of the "Liberator" containing Garrison's review of Smith's speech in Cleveland. Johnson states that Smith went afterwards to Eaglewood to visit Theodore Weld. Johnson declares his disappointment that Garrison did not go to West Chester at the behest of the Pennsylvania Anti-Slavery Society.
