Letter from Oliver Johnson, New York, [N.Y.], to William Lloyd Garrison, 8 Sept[ember], 1859
Description:
Oliver Johnson informs William Lloyd Garrison that the author of the article published in the Standard entitled "Some of the Beauties of Slavery" was written by a Dr. Cohen. Johnson states that he has had some difficulty verifying Cohen's references, and states that while he seems an honest man, Johnson remains distrustful of his motives, considering that he is obliged to demand compensation for his efforts. Johnson asks Garrison to inform him of the latest news concerning the "Pillsbury-Foster trouble", as he dislikes being "left in the dark as to what is going on".
