In the foreground, Manfred, in profile, raises his arm and pronounces the ardent words of the In the white dust of the waterfall, the Fairy of the Alps appears. She is dressed in light veils and floats, half recumbent and half sitting on clouds. Below her, in the foreground, a character seen from behind. (Schumann, Manfred, no. 6)
