Scores in Unsympathetic Role. Julia Adams, who recently bowed as a star in "Hollywood Story," has Hollywood talking about her fire performance in an unsympathetic role in "Bright Victory," Universal-International's top dramatic film of the year. Whereas Peggy Dow stars with Arthur Kennedy in the Mark Robson-directed drama, Julia turns in her best performance as the girl who rejects her G.I. sweetheart when he returns from the front wounded. Miss Adams, who recently married Leonard Stern, writer of the "Ma and Pa kettle" comedies, is being groomed by U-I in top roles. She has completed "Finders Keepers" opposite Tom Ewell and is now appearing with William Powell and Henry Hull in "The Treasure of Franchard."
