This was the original James Russell Lowell School at the corner of Orchard and White Streets built in 1882 and designed by Charles Brigham. It became the North Branch Library in 1925 when the school moved to its current location at the corner of Orchard and George Streets. This building was demolished in 1940 to make way for the new North Branch Library.
