Interior parlour at 3 Pleasant Street Court. One of a row of four identical houses built by Jacob Foss in that court about 1860. He came from Cornish, N.H. in 1817 at age of 21 with all his possessions in a bandana. Worked for low wages in Putnam & Pratt Distillery until able to buy them out and with Addison Gilmore of Samuel Kidder's made saleratus from molasses fumes. At outbreak of Civil War, gave $3000 to help volunteers and their Charlestown families. In 1866, left $2000 for celebrating Bunker Hill Day and another $3000 for U.S. flags, here in Cornish, N.H.
