First Baptist Church, 1930. Seen from Lawrence Street, near Chapman Street, about 1930. The First Baptist Church of Charlestown has produced two presidents of the Newton Theological Institution, one of them the Rev. Everett C. Herrick, D.D., founder of at least one excellent college, and a substantial number of reknowned educators, besides six missionaries in foreign lands. This edifice was erected in 1843.
