Hurricane "Dora" lashed this resort area with high winds and ponderous waves early 9/9 in advance of an expected 125 mile per hour sledgehammer blow. More than 10,000 persons fled their homes on beaches along the northeast Florida coast, where 10-foot high tides were forecast. At 6 A.M. EDT, Dora was centered 110 miles due East of Daytona Beach, moving westerly at 11 mph.
