BE IT RESOLVED, That the following tribute to Anne Sullivan Macy be spread upon the Minutes of this Meeting, and that a copy, duly engrossed, be presented to Dr. Helen Keller:-- Sorrowfully we record the passing from this life of life of ANNE SULLIVAN MACY, at her home in Forest Hills, L.I., New York on October 20th, 1936. An exemplary career has been brought to a close; a divinely gifted Teacher has ceased her labors on earth; throughout the world the loss of a kindly friend is mourned by countless numbers. Anne Sullivan Macy's heart turned always to the afflicted and unfortunate -- her brilliant mind ever eager to devise ways and means to alleviate their condition, whether blind, deaf, crippled, or otherwise handicapped. Indefatigably -- without sparing self -- and despite great physical suffering latterly --she labored arduously in collaboration with Dr. Helen Keller for many years, to advance the cause of the American Foundation for the Blind. Her wise counsel -- her unbounded enthusiasm -- the driving force of her dynamic personality aided greatly in surmounting difficulties that at times seemed insurmountable. Her life will continue to prove an inspiration to all those who enjoyed the privilege of close association with her -- and to those, less privileged, who knew of her achievements only through the written word, throughout the world. To Dr. Helen Keller we, the Trustees of the American Foundation for the Blind, wish to convey out heartfelt sympathy -- and we earnestly hope that in this great sorrow, she may find comfort and solace in the example set by her illustrious friend and mentor, who faced the vicissitudes of life so bravely and courageously. M. C. Migel, President Wm. Ziegler, Jr., Secretary At Meeting of Board of Trustees of the American Foundation for the Blind, held Dec. 14, 1936
