Holograph, signed.
This letter seems to be a continuation of Caroline Weston's letter of Oct. 21, 1871, to Rev. Samuel May; see Call No. Ms.B.1.6 v.13, p.93. Caroline gives an account of the "clerical appeal," and the controversy it caused. She says that the "Boston Library has a complete file of the Liberator." She gives the history of the Liberty Bell.
The postscript consists of some notes about the first eight anti-slavery fairs held in Boston (1834-1841), including the locations and profits.
