Holograph, signed with initials.
In this letter, William Lloyd Garrison gives an account of the accidental death of John Mawson, an abolitionist friend from Newcastle, England. Garrison warns Henry Clarke Wright that the Democratic party is "the party of barbarism, of brutality, of the most hateful and wicked ostracism, at war with God and Nature, with Christ and Freedom," because of its opposition to granting civil rights to freedmen. Bishop Hopkins of Vermont died. George Thompson is in better health than when he left Calcutta.
