Holograph, signed.
Nathaniel Barney comments on the void left by Maria Weston Chapman's absence. He says about Chapman: "She has been a faithful labourer, & her works follow her wherever her lot may be cast." Nathaniel Barney agrees with Anne Warren Weston's views on the Free Soil movement: "Let it have our sympathy & our prayers, for altho' it may not assume the true ground, still it embraces so much, that I see in its ultimate triumph a guaranty that the last shackle of the last slave shall be broken, & liberty proclaimed in that dark section of our country, ..." He encloses $10 for the Liberty Bell.
On page four of this manuscript, the delivery address is: Anne Warren Weston, Weymouth, Mass.
