Description:
May praises Estlin's "A Brief Notice of American Slavery, and the Abolition Movement," but also points out a few slight errors pertaining to the number of slave states and the number of free states. He discusses Dr. John Packman, John Parker Hale, Senator Charles Gordon Atherton, Senator John Fairfield and others. May says that he arranged for Estlin to have a free subscription to the "National Anti-Slavery Standard." May discussions the publication of letters in the "Standard" and mentions Garrison's projected trip to England. May also mentions Elihu Burrit, Henry Clapp, Jr., and Cassius Marcellus Clay. May touches on rumors of mediation by England in the Mexican War and defends divisions among the abolitionists. He says that Dr. Beecher of Cincinnati is going to England and that the Anti-Slavery Fair run by Mrs. Ball has been discontinued.
