Letter from Samuel May, Leicester, [Mass.], to Richard Davis Webb, July 24, 1855
Description:
May eulogizes Dr. John Bishop Estlin at length before inquiring about the prospects of "The Anti-Slavery Advocate." He informs Webb that he has asked Sydney Howard Gay to look for some copies of "Jonathan Oldbuck" and announces that a new issue of "The Liberty Bell" is to be published. May regrets Parker Pillsbury's poor health and comments on lithographs of Wendell Phillips, Theodore Parker, and William Lloyd Garrison. He says that "The New York Tribune" is trying to unite all of the anti-slavery organizations for the purpose of recovering Kansas and reports that Henry Clarke Wright is in Ohio.
