Letter from Samuel May, Boston, to Richard Davis Webb, Feb. 7, 1858
Description:
May discusses financial accounts. He says that Maria Weston Chapman declined the editorship of the "National Anti-Slavery Standard" and that the Executive Committee of the American Anti-Slavery Society is not wholly satisfied with Oliver Johnson, but will put him temporarily in Sydney Howard Gay's place. May condemns Lecompton Constitution and President James Buchanan's message in support of it.
