Photograph showing front of livery stable from driveway; 1 man standing in open large doorway; 2 men standing in driveway; spaniel-type dog lying in driveway; signs leaning at side - one says "Mountain Meadow Massacre Great Show", another says "Mr. William Lloyd", a third is unreadable; sign on building says "Horse Clipping". Writing on back of photo says "given by Jim Phipps Nov 24, 1972 via Ruth Ward. Jim's grandfather - Horace's Wood St stable - 16 horses - 12 sleighs - 14 carriages. Horace - using 2 hands and working fast carried 25-30 horses every morning. Funeral horses and carriages for hire (hacks) teams to meet Cordaville train etc. Beautiful driving horses. House across of blt. by and lived in by Silas Merick about 1820? before Horace Phipps bought it. Silas of Milford had m. Almira Goulding 6-20-182?. Livery stable torn down 6-17-1938? Formerly owned and built by James Monseto, 1870?"
