Description:
Christ Church (Protestant Episcopal). The first service was held in Oct. 15, 1761. Rev. East Apthorp D. D. was the first rector. It was occupied as barracks by the American troops in the summer of 1775. Its lead organ pipes were melted into bullets during siege of Boston, it being Tory property. A Divine Service was held in the church Dec. 31, 1775, as General and Mrs. Washington were present. Garden Street, Cambridge, Mass.
