On Hancock Street, built 1698, stands the old house that was the parsonage of John Hancock's grandfather for fifty-five years. His successor, Rev. Jonas Clarke, occupied it for another half century, including the years of the struggle of the colonies for independence. There John Hancock and Samuel Adams were sleeping when aroused by Revere's lusty voice, April 19, 1775. The House is now filled with historic relics of great interest.
