Trucks Halted as Big Strike Starts. Rhode Island became a test ground march 20 for a three-state truck drivers deadlock, with pickets getting an early morning start to halt movement of trucks through the state. This was a scene at dawn at Pawtucket, showing pickets stopping an assortment of vehicles. Strike resulted from a wage controversy involving some 1200 owners and 10,000 drivers in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut, with the drivers of Rhode Island only walking out.
