Text from item: Connecticut Governor visits Civil Defense portable hospital exhibited in Industrial Arts Building at Eastern States Exposition, West Springfield, Mass. Left to right: Robert R. Richmond, Exhibit Chief, FCDA; Governor Abraham A. Ribicoff of Connecticut; Mrs. Ribicoff; and Leo J. Mulcahy, Connecticut CD Director. The 200-bed emergency hospital, designed by the Federal Civil Defense Administration, can be moved immediately in a single van to any disaster area. It is the first of at least 6000 scheduled to be stockpiled at strategic locations throughout the country. Medical and civil defense officials from the Northeast States tell persons visiting the hospital how it can be used to save lives in the event of a disaster, whether natural or caused by enemy attack.
