Left, new dual tunnels on the east-west Pennsylvania Turnpike Right, Route 30 passing over the new bypass just east of Breezewood built to eliminate dangerous tunnels on the east-west road. Despite its growing-old pains, the 29-year-old Turnpike is still a legend with road builders. Three-fourths of its original 160 miles are free of curves, a remarkable engineering feat, since it crossed the Allegheny Mountains.
