Brownsville, Texas: After 16 days of indecision and 300 deaths in the Caribbean and Gulf if Mexico, Hurricane Inez stabbed deep into Mexico in the Tampico area 10/10, turned slightly southward and lost some of her force. At 12 Noon (EDT), Inez's highest winds were down to 100 miles an hour near her center, a sizable drop from the 135-mile-per-hour winds reported at her center earlier in the day. At the same time, Inez was reported to be about 30 miles northwest of Tampico, Mexico, and moving west-southwest at about 5 to 8 miles per hour.
