A new heart is lowered into Philip Barnum's chest 9/20 by University of Michigan surgeons. The Kalamazoo man, 49, received the healthy heart of Herman Opdenhoff, 37, of Waterford, Mich, who died Sept. 20th. The picture was made by U-M Medical Photography Unit near the beginning of Michigan's first heart transplant operation.
