Letter from Mary Ashton Livermore, Melrose, [Mass.], to William Lloyd Garrison, Sept[ember] 18, 1877
Description:
Mary Livermore congratulates William Lloyd Garrison on his "safe return from Europe", and states that she was informed by Maria Weston Chapman that Garrison visited Harriet Martineau's home and grave while in England. Livermore states that, at the suggestion of Maria Weston Chapman, she is preparing a lecture on Harriet Martineau to be delivered at the Lyceum the coming winter. Livermore requests that Garrison grant her an hour's interview so that she may question him on the subject of Martineau in preparation for her address.
