Building: Mason School
The Mason School, at 1242 Centre Street, Newton Centre, was built in 1901—one of several new brick elementary schools built to replace smaller, wood-frame Newton school buildings around the turn of the twentieth century. Two previous Mason School buildings had been destroyed by fires.
