Nearly 9000 persons were killed in the collapse of this, the railway station at Jamalpur, in northern India, when all northern India was shaken by an earthquake. The wife and children of G. W. Brown, the British manager of the railway work shop, and the wife of the Indian district medical officer, were among the first killed here.
