The original, hand-illustrated copy of the scroll was completed at Casa Taller Cangrejera, AgitArte’s live/work and community space in Santurce, Puerto Rico, in June 2018.

The project came to life through several phases of development, including three phases of production over the course of six months (January - June 2018). Phase 1 (Santurce, Puerto Rico): research, storyboarding, image creation, production planning, start of production; Phase 2 (Maine): continuation of production; Phase 3 (Santurce, PR).

The original, hand-illustrated copy of the scroll was presented publicly for the first time to an audience of over 100 during the June 2018 opening reception of the When We Fight, We Win! / Cuando Luchamos, Ganamos! exhibition in New York City.
