Metal plate with shield of Massachusetts, and dates 1630, 1930, inscribed: "Watertown. Settled by Puritans in 1630 under the leadership of Sir Richard Saltonstall and the Rev. George Phillips who stood firmly for religious toleration and the right of the people to a representative government. Massachusetts Bay Colony Tercentenary Commission."
