In conversation in front of Mr. Brigham's house on Garfield St. Thomas Gavin was a contractor and coal dealer with Charles Brigham who was an architect. Brigham designed many private and public buildings in Watertown. He was on the School Committee, chairman of the Library Trustees and president of the Union Market National Bank. He was the Master of Pequossette Free Mason Lodge, 1873-74.
