(Shop Assembly Photos of Two 1200-H-60B Machines) One of the country's largest injection molder of plastics-The Ideal Novelty and Toy Company of Long Island, New York, recently purchased two of the biggest plastics injection molding machines ever built, which, upon installation will mold parts up to 200 ounces in weight. These machines are being built by The Hydraulic Press Mfg. Company. A. M. Katz, General Manager of Ideal, indicated these new machines are being purchased to handle sub-contract work on refrigerator parts, telivision windows, and other big moldings including defense orders. These two huge machines, shown in the photo above, are now under test in H-P-M's Mount Gilead, Ohio, plant and are scheduled for shipment to Ideal January 30. These injection molding machines have a maximum die space of 48" x 60", 60" daylight and 1200 ton mold clamp with 36" stroke. Each machine weighs 112,000 pounds. Their extremely large "shot" capacity will permit them to handle all large molds now in production and even bigger molds now being designed. Mr. Katz indicated that open time is available on these giant machines for additional custom molding work.
