"Copied from a plan in the Selectmen's office in Boston May 25th 1816 by me William Taylor. Supposed to have been surveyed one hundred years past [mem] the courses & distances not on the original but marked on by me W T."
"...the red lines show the form of the Island agreable to the above survey. [Supposing] about 100 years past - & allow the variation of the needle to be then 9 degrees west & at present 5 degrees."
