Newton's original City Hall stood on Washington Street at the corner of Cherry Street in West Newton. It was demolished not long after this photograph was taken, to make way for the present-day District Court and Police Headquarters buildings (completed in 1931). Newton's present-day City Hall, at 1000 Commonwealth Avenue, was built in 1932.
