Bartolomeo Vanzetti autographed letter signed to Maddalena Ballatore, Charlestown, 29 April 1922
Description:
Expressing his optimism and describing his reading and studies. Translation: He only just received her address. He won’t repeat his story which all know but he is very optimistic. He is doing his best to preserve his health and to instruct himself. He is allowed newspapers (bourgeois, of course) and the prison has a good library. He is going to English school and has made good progress. He is comforted by his family’s serenity. “Please watch over sister and Ettore." P.S. greeting to his uncle.
