Spokane, Wash -- Weathermen at the Spokane Weather Bureau struggle against gale winds to get a helium-filled balloon away from buildings before releasing it. Gusts up to 72 miles an hour were recorded at the nearby Geiger air tower. The balloon is equipped with transmitters to report temperatures and wind velocities back to the station.
