Title (alt.):
Oswald Garrison Villiad Letters
Robert Morss Lovett Letters
Description:
Oswald Garrison Villard was an American journalist and editor of the New York Evening Post. He was a civil rights activist and a founding member of the NAACP. Robert Morss Lovett was an American academic, writer, editor, political activist, and government official and served on the editorial board of the New Republic. In this letter from Villard to Lovett, he states that he would like to help in any capacity but finds it difficult to attend any Sacco-Vanzetti committee meetings. However, he reassures Lovett that he will do anything in his power to help in their cause. This letter and others in the collection highlight the variety of membership in the Sacco-Vanzetti National League from everyday citizens to well-known activists.
