Glass decanter with checkerboard pattern etched with stars in center of each square. Glass has a faint yellow tint. Matched set to 2017.3.8, but about 0.5" shorter and a tiny bit smaller diameter. All features are slightly smaller as a result. Includes rounded glass stopper with hexagonal design.Cut panels around neck and vertical ribbing above flat base. Date range and place of origin based on similar decanter in "Knopf Collectors' Guides to American Antiques: Glass," v. 1, p. 101. Per paperwork, this set "belonged to Amos Whittemore, the inventor."
