Proctor Town Claerk West Cambridge, Mass and the Honorable Selectmen of the Town of West Cambridge Your favor (?) of the 11th just came duly to hand you speak of business carried on in your town of West Cambridge by me I have no place of business there but a few days ago by the request of Rufus Whittemore and Russell I sent a few Hogs there to assist them in carrying out a contract for Lily House [?] which was out in 2 years + 2 months from date I have used there small [?] Boiler to Boil and same Animal flushed Bones, The same thing I do at these places and have been doing the same business for the last 28 years and there is no business more healthy I have men in my employ that have been with me for the last 15 or 18 years. There is but a little business of this kind that I wish to do at this place. I hope your honorable body will look at this in a Night-Light for it will be a benefit to your town of 2 or 3 thousand dollars a year. I will call with Rufus Whittemore and Russell at the Town Hall in your town next Thursday Aug. 21/56 at 4 1/2 o'clock and talk over the matter with you. Whittemore + Russell have a larger lot of Manure this or this place + when that is hauled away I think the place will look better and have no offense to any person. Yours Respectfully Nathan Ward"
