Title (alt.):
Charivari. Neighborhood nymphs, come discreet nymphs Laboulie in these places arrayed with his glasses, Shows himself to your glances in uncovered masses A young journalist who, leaving the unsullied water having hardly given his signature Dries his fine torso in the sun. (The author remains anonymous, since the law forgot to require a signature on acrostics, quatrains, Nostradamus prophecy, villanelle, ballads, roundels, virelais and other rhymes.)
Description:
This lithograph is made to resemble a picture in a frame that captures an idyll, or a scene or event of a simple and tranquil nature. Members of parliament are caricatured in these idylls; they are made to seem like angels, without clothes but with small wings instead. This unusual series in the style of Louis XV is imitating in a charming and original way the style of Fragonard.
