Letter from Mrs. M.J. Sweeney to Forrest Bailey, October 24, 1927
Title (alt.):
Mrs. M. J. Sweeney Letters
Forrest Bailey Letters
Description:
Forrest Bailey was the Co-Director of the American Civil Liberties Union and a member of the executive board of the Sacco-Vanzetti National League. Mrs. M.J. Sweeney, a local Bostonian, writes to the Sacco Vanzetti League in response to interest in the formation of a new committee. During the Sacco-Vanzetti Trial, a significant portion of Bostionians and residents of Massachusetts were outraged at the treatment of Sacco and Vanzetti. The Sacco-Vanzetti trial challenged and shed light on issues within the American justice system. Throughout the trial and even after, citizens from all over the country and abroad supported the National Sacco-Vanzetti League in hopes of getting Sacco and Vanzetti exonerated.
